Two Men Stole $65,000 in Chicken Wings Amid Shortage Article

Police arrested two storage facility workers for allegedly stealing $65,000 worth of frozen chicken wings.

Renaldo Jackson, 26, and Dewayne Patterson, 35, are listed as employees at Nordic Cold storage in Doraville, just north of Atlanta, where the wings were stolen.

The duo allegedly pulled the heist in the middle of the day using a rental truck which was then loaded with 10 pallets of frozen wings from the storage facility. Jackson used a forklift to load the wings while Patterson acted as a lookout.

One five-pound bag of frozen Tyson’s chicken wings sells for about $12.50. The station estimates that about 26,000 pounds of wings were stolen from the facility.

The two men were arrested and charged with one count of felony theft. They were later released on a $2,950 bond.

The wings, however, were never found.

It was a well-planned heist with the Super Bowl coming up, as a high nationwide demand for the famous snack will leave football fans bracing for a shortage. Wings are expected to reach record prices during the Super Bowl this year.
