Suspect Signed His Own Name in Security Logs Article

A thief posing as a fire inspector was busted after cops find his real name signed to a visitor log.

Christopher Kieter, 26, first gained entry to the Academy of Music, where he stole a Toshiba computer, headphones and a radio.

The following day, he posed as inspector again at the Independence Visitor Center and took a handheld radio and a wireless microphone.

On the third incident, Kieter went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia and stole two laptops. But this time, he signed in the security log with his real name, which led to his arrest.

Kieter was charged with impersonating a public official, criminal trespass, theft and related offenses.

Philadelphia police recovered the stolen items after they searched Kieter’s home.
