Groom Speeds to Church and Spends Wedding Night in Jail Article

No wedding bells came ringing in Valparaiso for Timothy N. Thompson, 23, who got arrested for resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness and reckless driving.

Thompson was allegedly speeding recklessly in the center lane of the road.  According to an officer, he was driving erratically at 100mph, switching lanes abruptly – nearly taking the highway to hell.

The daredevil groom was reported nearly tipping over the Jeep Grand Cherokee as he entered into the parking lot of the church where he was to be wed.

According to another statement, he made his grand entrance driving through the church’s parking lot creating a “doughnut” while forming a thick blanket of tire smoke.  He told authorities that he was supposed to be married at 7 p.m. and also said he had just been released from jail earlier that day.

Thompson made another race to the church entrance and after police stopped him again he said, “Oh, I thought you were done and I’m late for a party in Chicago. It now means I have to drive really fast to get there.”

As a result, Thompson couldn’t make it to his wedding but made it to a county jail instead – where he was held without bond, nor bride.
